“St. Louis, here I come! As a long-standing partner with Major League Baseball (MLB), Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is thrilled to have been selected as one of three beneficiaries, along with Stand Up To Cancer™ and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, of the first-ever MLB All-Star Charity 5k & Fun Run. ‘Take me out to the ballpark’ will take on a new meaning as we join hands with other advocates in the cancer community and stand united against the devastation of cancer.” Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, Founding Chair Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
This unique event, which is one of a series of charitable activities leading up to the 80th All-Star Game, will take place on Sunday, July 12th at 7:30 a.m. in downtown St. Louis and is designed for the whole family. Special baseball-themed surprises and All-Star commemorative t-shirts and medals will be distributed to all participants. Mothers, daughters, sons, husbands, wives, friends and co-workers will participate in either the 5k or 1.1 mile Fun Run to help raise money for Komen! MLB is donating 100% of the proceeds of the event to the cause. More information is available at http://mlb.mlb.com/stl/fan_forum/asg/asg_funrun.jsp about this landmark partnership with “America’s national pastime” and our co-beneficiaries as we come together to make cancer a thing of the past!
