Who We Are

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure St. Louis Affiliate was formed in 1999 and joined Komen's network of more than 100 affiliates.

The Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure® hit the ground running in 1999 - the first St. Louis race immediately earned the distinction of being the largest road race ever held in the city.  The 10,257 St. Louis Race participants set and still hold a Komen record as the largest first-year event of any race around the globe.  Today, the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure is one of the largest in the Komen Race for the Cure Series and one of the top five largest 5K races in the world!

The St. Louis Affiliate of Komen for the Cure is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community joining more than 1 million breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure®, the St. Louis Affiliate has invested over $10 million in community breast health programs in 18 counties in Missouri and Illinois.

Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in the St. Louis area. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research. For more information, call 314-569-3900 or visit www.komenstlouis.org.
